Position Description:
Outpost Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to support the development and delivery of mission-critical hardware for space applications. This role focuses on driving technical execution, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve program objectives. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge, effective communication with customers and stakeholders, and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes in compliance with AS9100 standards and safety-critical and fracture-critical requirements. This position requires a balance of engineering expertise, program coordination, and technical oversight to meet the rigorous demands of space systems development.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and engineering support to ensure alignment with cost, schedule, quality, and performance objectives.
- Serve as a key technical liaison for customers, facilitating regular updates, feedback, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, to achieve project milestones.
- Develop and maintain technical plans, design reviews, and risk management strategies to ensure successful delivery.
- Ensure all designs and processes comply with aerospace standards, including AS9100, safety-critical, and fracture-critical requirements.
- Support technical reviews, audits, and inspections to maintain quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify technical risks and work with teams to develop mitigation plans for schedule, budgetary, and engineering challenges.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace engineering or space systems development.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing and quality standards, including AS9100.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate engineering efforts in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-810F/G/H and GSFC-STD-7000A.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in an engineering field or a related technical discipline.
- 10 years of experience in aerospace engineering or space systems development.
- Experience with flight hardware development and testing.
- Expertise in risk assessment and mitigation strategies for aerospace programs.
- Strong technical communication skills for interfacing with customers and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of SSP 41172 ISS Qualification and Acceptance Environmental Test Requirements, SSP 57000 Pressurized Payloads Interface Requirements, SSP 51721 ISS Safety Requirements, SSP 30558 Fracture Control Requirements for Space Station, and SSP 30599 Safety Review Process.
