Our 179-room hotel, spa and resort in the shadow of the San Jacintos, Ace Hotel & Swim Club transforms a former Howard Johnson into a mid-century desert oasis. Home to a stargazing deck, a couple of very deep pools and cosmic energy from here to the horizon line. 

The Sales Manager represents a territory and/or specific vertical markets and is responsible for new business development and maintaining key accounts to produce additional revenue as directed by the DOS. The Sales Manager must meet financial goals consistently and develop to be a leader within the hotel.

COFE FOCUS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Solicit and contract new business opportunities with consistent business development tactics.
  • Implement a targeted and direct strategic plan to penetrate specific markets within territory as directed by DOS.
  • Work closely with the DOS to develop and achieve outlined objectives
  • Conduct creative site inspections with on-site clients.
  • Have a refined sense of communication: timely response to RFPs, creative proposals, superb time management skills, effective  communication with customer and team.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all hotel services/features and hours of operation.
  • Promote positive relations with guests and employees.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of the competition’s product.
  • Maintain a file base in Delphi.
  • Input all activities group business (prospect, tentative, definite and turned down) in Delphi.
  • Create action plans on a quarterly basis or as requested by supervisor
  • Achieve or exceed assigned quarterly financial goals in catering, rooms and room rental
  • Positively contribute the achievement of overall hotel goals in  revenue ,Rev PAR and STR
  • Make outside sales calls, and handle all incoming inquiries.
  • Plan and prepare appointments for sales trips. Create pre-trip and post-trip reports in a timely manner.
  • Annually create a travel calendar to target markets where there are Impactful business opportunities. 
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Ensure financial success of the hotel by overseeing that all bookings are profitable for the entire hotel.
  • Perform special projects assigned by hotel management.
  • Any other task written or verbal, that is assigned by a supervisor or management

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Ability to provide high quality communication and be technologically sound with Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Prioritize and organize work assignments, have timely follow up and execute special projects
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  • Knowledge of Newmarket Delphi software.
  • Knowledge of Hotelintellegence

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum two years in a sales manager capacity in a comparable hotel/resort. Some flexibility in experience may be allowed depending upon the level of knowledge required for the specific territory. Combination of education equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Four year college degree, C.P.R. certification, Management training program, and computer training preferred.

LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL SKILLS, AND REASONING ABILITIES

  • Ability to understand guests’ service needs and requests.
  • Ability to acknowledge the guests’ request with a polite answer.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily communicate English with guests, management, and other associates to their understanding. 
  • Additional foreign language preferred.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving clients and operational issues maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Direct performance of assigned staff and follow up with corrections where needed.
  • Ability to focus on every detail concerning a B.E.O. 
  • Must be proactive and innovative in avoiding late functions and potential accidents.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional equipment as found in a typical kitchen environment.   • Sit, walk, and stand continuously.
  • Lift / carry 25 lbs (frequently) and 50 lbs (occasionally)
  • Bend, squat, crawl, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Use dominant hand coordination for simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, dampness, height, and moving machinery
