Description

Job Summary: Learn the responsibilities of a Certification Engineer at the NAIC. Design and develop new ways to help facilitate testing to national standards for product certification. Assist in gathering required documentation for product listings.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs and builds test set-ups according to relevant standards for agency certification testing.
  • Reads and understands national standards and codes.
  • Gathers and maintains documentation on components used in products and product testing.
  • Creates test reports.
  • Works together with Technicians to troubleshoot, applies fixes, and repairs unit under test and test set-up.
  • Communicates with all Engineering departments within the NAIC to gather information pertaining to the project.
  • Reads and reviews electrical diagrams, piping schematics, mechanical drawings, and other engineering documents.
  • Maintains vendor relations for parts and equipment required for test set-ups.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Current Student or recent graduate of an ABET accredited engineering program.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Communicates effectively in written and spoken form.

  • Exhibits good decision making and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates excellent multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Works effectively in a team environment.
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
  • Able to use power tools including woodworking tools and handheld tools.
  • Work Environment:
  • Office with periodic visits to the test lab and manufacturing facility with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs., climbing, stooping, sitting, or standing for prolonged periods.
